Water Vole Surveys

Where a watercourse and/or adjacent suitable habitat has been deemed likely to support water vole, species specific surveys will be required to determine presence / absence and to confirm population estimates.

Scope of the survey and number of survey visits may be determined by the suitability of the habitats and the level of impact occurring however, two survey visits are usually required, to be undertaken between April and June, followed by a second with between July and September. Survey visits must be undertaken two months apart.
